African Arts Awareness Week
The Arts week was a great success. Each class on the Charlton site participated in at least one art form based on African arts during the week. At the special assembly on Thursday we saw wonderful bead jewellery made by classes C3 and C8; masks made by C8; patterns made by C4 and pottery by C2. Students from C6, C1 and from C7 and from C11participated in an African dance workshop on the Monday afternoon and on the Wednesday afternoon Post 16 enjoyed a session of music and dance. C4 participated in an all day workshop run by Greenwich Community College students, culminating in a performance for the whole school. They delighted us with their song and movement routine. The aim of the week was to focus on the wealth of creative arts that is generated on the continent of Africa and to keep that in awareness alongside the great poverty and real needs of children there that was highlighted by the Comic Relief effort.
