Key Stage Four Performance - A London Romance

The week beginning 11th May, saw Key Stage 4 students in performance, sharing with audiences their production, A London Romance.
September 2008, and the whole of Key Stage 4 were gathered in the hall for the first group session. No-one knew what the sessions were about, only that everyone would be working towards a performance based on the ideas of conflict and resolution and of course, love. The students investigated these ideas through dance, drama, music and art and learned about Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story. They then came up with the idea of a modern day romance set in South East London. The production was a culmination of a whole years work in which every student in Key Stage 4 played a big part, including writing the script, set design, choreography and lighting.
The performances have been great and we all have enjoyed working together towards this production. The evening performance on Tuesday was a very special event. All the students rose to the occasion and performed brilliantly. It was great to see so many parents and guests in the audience. A big thank to everyone, staff and students who have made A London Romance such a success.
