The archway Project was founded in 1982 under the arches of a bridge in Thamesmead. The project is a registered youth charity who work with young people in Bexley and Greenwich who are at risk of social exclusion, in care proceedings and/or who find it difficult to access full time education. The project provides an alternative learning experiences for two of our students, Grant and David. Activities revolve around off road motorbike riding. grant and David maintain the bikes with other students and are taught mechanical and riding skills by qualified staff. Additionally the students are taught how to cook. I have had the pleasure of tasting David's cooking, watch out Gordon Ramsey! Some of the students also learn photography skills. Both students are working towards OCN (Open College Network) credits. Grant has received an award from the Councillor Steve Offord Mayor of Greenwich and take a look at the pictures of the lads on bikes in Essex.
